The Annual Brussels Security Talks are back! In this context, we will hold a panel discussion on 29 November at the Hotel Renaissance.
With Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, NATO – to the surprise of many – was able to move closer together and show the strength of the alliance. The United States, the EU and its member states have unequivocally supported Ukraine's defence, and Germany, triggered by this watershed moment of European security, has undertaken a paradigm shift in its security posture.
In this context, we are organising the 4th Annual Brussels Security Talks in Brussels. Together with the FES Office in Washington, DC, we warmly invite you to the panel discussion "The End of the Status Quo? The United States, Germany, and Europe in a more aggressive World". It will take place on Tuesday, 29 November at 18:15 (CET) at the Hotel Renaissance (Rue du Parnasse 19, 1050 Brussels). This panel discussion is the fourth in a series of dialogues the offices of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Brussels and Washington, DC have been holding since 2019 to discuss various challenges within the transatlantic partnership. This year, we will explore and discuss pathways of further strengthening the NATO alliance, the EU’s contribution to security in Europe and the importance of the transatlantic partnership in a rapidly changing international setting. What impact does the pressure on democratic institutions, evident in both the US and Europe, have against this background? What is the relationship between the resilience of democratic structures and the impact on the security of transatlantic partners?
