The partnership between the US and the EU has seen ups and downs in the past five years

The future of the transatlantic partnership is determining the future of Euro-Atlantic security. The partnership between the US and the EU has seen ups and downs in the past five years. However, the cooperation has endured external pressures, and has even grown sturdier through it. It has also experienced renewed support, bolstered by strengthened political will and dedication.

Can both partners rely on the trust that has been built up through the joint response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine? What implications will the elections 2024 have for the transatlantic future? We will explore this during the panel discussion of our 5th EU-US Security Talks happening on 8 November from 18 to 19:00 at the Renaissance Hotel Brussels. Under the title "Shaping the World to Come? The United States, Europe, and Germany Adjusting for an Unknown Future", we discuss pathways to further strengthen the transatlantic partnership, the EU’s contribution to security in Europe and NATO’s role in a rapidly changing international setting.

The EU-US Security Talks is a series of dialogues that the offices of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Brussels and Washington, D.C. have been holding since 2019. In this format, we are discussing various challenges within the transatlantic partnership.
