Investitionen in die europäische Infrastruktur sind notwendig, um den Standort EU wettbewerbsfähig zu halten und die klimaneutrale Transformation zu meistern. Inflation, Krieg in der Ukraine, volatile Energiepreise – die Herausforderungen für die europäische Wirtschaft und Industrie sind immens. Offen ist auch, ob der amerikanische „Inflation Reduction Act“ sich als Fluch oder Segen herausstellen wird. Die EU hat mit dem Wiederaufbauplan „NextGenerationEU“, der Recovery and Resilience Facility oder mit dem REPowerEU-Plan selbst bereits große Impulse für die Finanzierung der Transformation gesetzt.
Sollte dieses Instrumentarium verstetigt werden? Welche Auswirkungen hat das auf die Fiskalregeln und den europäischen Stabilitäts- und Wachstumspakt? Braucht es eine europäische Investitionsunion?
Wie sich Deutschland und die EU vor diesem Hintergrund aufstellen sollten, diskutieren der wirtschaftspolitische Sprecher der Europa-SPD im Europäischen Parlament, Dr. Joachim Schuster, und der Direktor des Instituts der Deutschen Wirtschaft, Prof. Michael Hüther am 27. März von 17:30 - 18:30.
