"Social Dialogue for Sustainable Development": EU-financed project in Rwanda 16.05.2022 The EU-co-financed project "SD4SD" marks a new commitment to the Social Dialogue in Rwanda. Trade unions strive for more participation On 16 May 2022, FES Rwanda launched the new EU project “Social Dialogue for Sustainable Development (SD4SD)” together with the Congrès du Travail et de la Fraternité (COTRAF). In the coming three years, the partners set out to improve social dialogue in the sectors of mining, education and tea plantation - which account for 17 per cent of the Rwandan workforce. The project will support trade unions in campaigns for improved occupational safety and higher salaries, as well as the implementation of international labour standards. The kick-off event in Kigali was attended by MEP Karsten Lucke, H.E. Nicola Bellomo, EU Ambassador to Rwanda, and representatives from several trade unions. The project is co-financed by the European Union and facilitated by the EU Projects team at the FES EU Office in Brussels.
