Sustainable Economic Growth & Development in the Western Balkans

30.01.2019, Book presentation and discussion, 11h - 13h, Venue Regional Cooperation Council, Rue Joseph II, 12-16 (EFTA building), REGISTRATION IS CLOSED

In a recently published book, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung promotes a new economic model for Southeast Europe and describes the economic challenges and solutions towards more sustainable, qualitative and inclusive growth for the region. The development gap towards Central Eastern Europe as well as towards the EU average remains huge. In order to bridge this gap, the Western Balkans need to make better and more differentiated use of foreign direct investments, the EU has to devise its funds for the region in a more targeted and sustainable way, the governments of the region have to develop industrial policies for their respective countries as well as for the region as a whole, and, finally, the instruments of monetary and fiscal policy have to be revised. To discuss the findings of the study, we would kindly like to invite you to our book presentation and panel discussion with a keynote speech by Ms. Majlinda Bregu, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council.
