Sweden votes: aftermath of the 2018 general election 17.09.2018 17.09.2018, 13h00-14h30, Panel Discussion Sweden's governing social democrats faced increasing pressure from the right-wing populist Sweden Democrats party ahead of the country's general election on 9 September 2018. Concerns about migration were an important topic in public discourse, but which party was more convincing to voters on this issue and others? Is Sweden's traditionally open society becoming less tolerant of minority groups? What does the election's outcome mean for national and EU policymaking? These questions and more will be addressed in a panel discussion hosted by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Brussels on 17 September. One week after the election, speakers will analyse the election results and discuss their implications for Sweden and the rest of the EU.
