Policy Brief: Beyond Values - How Feminist Foreign Policy Serves Strategic Interests

Feminist Foreign Policy can be more than "just" a moral choice. Our policy brief explores how FFP can become an effective tool of foreign policy strategy.

Two abstract figures moving chesspieces on a chessboard.

The strategic interests behind pursuing a Feminist Foreign Policy have long been overlooked. In a policy brief published by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the Foundation for European Progressive Studies, Leonie Stamm strives to fill this gap by highlighting how to leverage strategic potentials to enrich the normative case for FFP.

The publication maps out four different strategic rationales: efficiency, leadership, reputation, and alliance, and explores their respective strengths and weaknesses. For each strategic motive, the author presents recommendations for policymakers and FFP advocates on how to pursue a comprehensive approach to FFP that makes full use of its potential.
