Latin American views on Europe & the world

Shifts in global power dynamics force countries to seek out new partnerships. Could this create momentum for stronger ties between the EU and Latin America? Join our roundtable on 8 June to discuss.

A map of South America
Creator: Anto Fraccaro

As old alliances become less reliable and geopolitical dynamics shift, countries across the globe are reassessing their international partnerships and priorities. Could this create new momentum for closer ties between the Latin America and the EU? How do South American societies perceive Europe, and where do they see themselves in the changing international order?

Navigating uncertainties: the second edition of the AMLAT Radar

These questions are at the centre of the AMLAT Radar 2026, a follow-up to a 2021/22 study. The research shows that the EU continues to be viewed positively when it comes to democracy, human rights, and environmental protection, although its image is weakening in other areas. At the same time, perceptions of the USA have declined significantly, while China has gained considerable prestige and influence across the region.
