On 7 June, Armenia held parliamentary elections in what was widely seen as a consequential vote on its future path and geopolitical orientation. Although the campaign was highly polarised, the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission found that the elections were well organised, inclusive and offered voters clear political alternatives. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s party secured victory on a pro-peace and pro-European course. Whilst Armenia is likely to continue moving closer to the EU, its relations with neighbouring countries will also have to be considered.
