Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, combined with the uncertainties of the transatlantic partnership, leave no room for delay. Strengthening Europe’s deterrence requires efficient, effective, and collaborative action. The EU Commission has proposed several measures with the aim to establish a European Defence Union, but progress so far has been limited.
